Professor Timothy Luckhurst

Professor Timothy Luckhurst MA, FRSA is Principal of South College, Durham University and Associate Pro Vice-Chancellor Engagement. He is a historian of newspapers and an academic member of the University’s Centre for Modern Conflicts and Cultures. His books include Reporting the Second World War – The Press and the People 1939-1945 (Bloomsbury Academic), Responsibility Without Power – Lord Justice Leveson’s Constitutional Dilemma (Abramis Academic) and This is Today – A Biography of the Today Programme (Aurum Press).

Professor Luckhurst is a former editor of The Scotsman and has worked as an editor, producer and reporter for BBC News and Current Affairs in London, the USA, the Middle East and Eastern Europe. He sits on the editorial board of The Conversation UK and is a speaker for Speakers for Schools.
